What to Expect
We’re honored that you’re considering Sandwich Animal Hospital for your pet’s care. To help give you a clear, honest picture of what pet care with us entails, we’ve prepared this short guide on what to expect at our clinic.
What to Expect from Our Veterinary Care in Cape Cod, MA
We want you and your pet to feel as comfortable as possible when you visit our clinic, and we know that having an idea of what to expect can help with that.
Here’s what will happen when you book an appointment with us at Sandwich Animal Hospital:
1. Check in
Once you arrive, come right inside and check in with the front desk team. They’ll be ready to welcome you and your pet, will get you checked in, and give you instructions on where to go next.
If your pet is anxious, nervous, or a little spicy at the vet, that’s okay! Let us know ahead of time, or call us from your car to let us know you’ve arrived. We’ll let you know what to do next to help ensure you and your pet have the most positive and low-stress experience possible.
2. Quick weight check
When it’s time, we’ll bring your pet to the scale. Tip: Bring a favorite treat (or ask us for one!) to help them stay still for a few seconds so we can get an accurate weight.
3. Settle into the exam room
A team member will escort you to an exam room. We’ll chat about your pet’s health, why you’re visiting today, and any questions you want the doctor to address.
4. Your pet’s check-up
Your veterinarian will come in (treats in hand)! to help your pet feel comfortable. We’ll review your pet’s history, what’s going on today, and any recommended next steps or diagnostics. There’s always time for your questions. If your pet has allergies or dietary restrictions, just let us know.
5. Checkout + next steps
After the exam, you’ll head back to the lobby. Our team will check you out, review medications, answer last‑minute questions, and go over today’s invoice.
If you have pet insurance with direct pay, tell us and we’ll process it. If you need to submit your own claim, we’ll make sure you leave with the invoice.
6. Head home with peace of mind
You and your pet head home knowing they’ve received thoughtful, high‑quality care to support a long, healthy, happy life.
