Our Beginnings: Dr. Hussey’s Inspiration
Sandwich Animal Hospital is built around one simple belief:

From a young age, Dr. Laura Hussey knew she wanted to be a veterinarian. While spending time with her neighbor’s Appaloosa, she noticed something wrong with its eye. When the vet came to see the horse, he told her she had a talent for noticing things with animals. That compliment sparked a lifelong passion for caring for animals.
A Lifelong Journey in Care
Her career has taken her across the world, providing care to pets and the people who love them, but visiting Cape Cod changed everything. The sense of community and the way her neighbors cared so deeply for their animals made it feel like home. In April 2025, she purchased Sandwich Animal Hospital with a clear vision: build a new legacy for an independently owned veterinary clinic where pets and their families feel genuinely seen, heard, and cared for.

Today, Dr. Hussey and her team focus on medicine that’s both thorough and personal. No rushing. No pressure. We focus on thoughtful, compassionate care built around communication, honesty, and doing what’s best for each individual pet. Whether it’s preventive care, diagnostics, surgery, or helping manage chronic conditions, Dr. Hussey’s focus is on providing the best outcomes for each pet in her care while simultaneously ensuring their owners feel educated and confident about that care.
