My pet is anxious or fearful at the vet. What can you do to help?

Our veterinary team is very skilled in supporting both fearful pets and their owners before, during, and after visits.

If your pet has specific needs or triggers, let us know beforehand, and our team will take steps to ensure a successful, low-stress visit for both you and your pet.

Will I be given an estimate before treatment is provided?

Always. Our approach to veterinary care is based on partnership with you. That can’t happen without clear communication. Our team will never begin a treatment until we have thoroughly reviewed our recommendations, options, and you have signed off on an estimate.

Can you help prioritize care if cost is a concern?

Yes, our team is here to support you if the costs for your pet’s care don’t line up with your budget. We can discuss alternative care options, payment options, and pet insurance.

How do I refill a prescription for medicine or food?

If you need your pet’s medicine or food prescription refilled, fill out our prescription refill form or give us a call at 508-888-2774.

Is this clinic owned by a corporation, and what does that mean for me?

No, our clinic is owned by Dr. Laura Hussey and has no affiliation with any corporate veterinary group or private equity firm. This means that the care you receive at Sandwich Animal Hospital is focused on you and your pet, not on corporate costs and priorities.

What makes you different from other veterinary clinics?

Sandwich Animal Hospital is built around one simple belief: your pet’s care should feel personal. We focus on thoughtful, compassionate care built around communication, honesty, and doing what’s best for each individual pet. Whether it’s preventive care, diagnostics, surgery, or helping manage chronic conditions, Dr. Hussey’s focus is on providing the best outcomes for each pet in her care while simultaneously ensuring their owners feel educated and confident about that care.

What do I do if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?

We understand that life happens and always do everything that we can to help our clients’ changing needs. If you do need to reschedule or cancel an appointment, give us a call at 508-888-2774 right away. We ask that you give us at least 24 hours’ notice via phone call of any cancellation. Cancellations later than 24-hours’ notice may be subject to a cancellation fee.

How early should I arrive before my appointment?

To ensure enough time for check-in and to keep your appointment running on time, we ask that you arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your pet’s appointment time.

Will I be able to stay with my pet during the exam?

We strive to complete as much of your pet’s exam with you in the exam room to help keep your pet as comfortable as possible. There may be times when we need to bring your pet into our treatment room without you. When this happens, our team will thoroughly explain what we are doing and why, so you have full confidence in the care your pet is receiving.

Do you accept pet insurance?

Yes, and we recommend it for all of our clients to ensure that your pet’s quality of care never has to be compromised due to costs.
