Our Veterinarians

Dr. William Best
Veterinarian
Dr. William Best is a pet owner himself. That means he never takes the incredible bonds we share with our animal companions for granted. For him, getting to use his skillset to nurture and strengthen those relationships is a dream come true! Dr. Best is proud to serve the pets and animal parents of the area as a part of the Sandwich Animal Hospital team.

Dr. Best received his undergraduate degree from Texas Christian University and his veterinary degree from the University of Pennsylvania. After owning and operating his own veterinary practice, The Foxboro Animal Hospital, he sold the clinic and has been enjoying working part-time on the Cape ever since.

Dr. Best has been a part of the Sandwich Animal Hospital family since January of 2015. He has a special interest in surgical work—particularly knee repair—and he loves to keep his coworkers laughing on a daily basis.
In his spare time, Dr. Best enjoys traveling with his wife, golfing with friends, working in his yard, and spending time with his wonderful children and grandchildren. He and his wife live in Brewster with their Golden Retriever, Molly.
Dr. Leslie Harmon
Owner, Veterinarian
Dr. Leslie Harmon was interested in all types of living things even as a little girl—it didn’t matter if it had fur, feathers, scales, shells, or an exoskeleton. The older she got, the more biology and problem-solving began to fascinate her. What better way to put her passion to good use, thought Dr. Harmon, than by working to better the lives of animals as a veterinarian? The rest is history. She’s proud to serve as Sandwich Animal Hospital’s Owner and Head Veterinarian!

Dr. Harmon grew up with her parents and four sisters in West Hempstead, New York, and also lived in Jackson Hole, Wyoming for two years as a teenager. Her educational journey began at the University of Connecticut in the pre-veterinary medicine track, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree, and she would continue on at the University to earn her Master’s in agricultural nutritional biochemistry.

Next, Dr. Harmon moved to Cape Cod and was later accepted into Tufts Veterinary School. After graduating as a licensed veterinarian, she secured a competitive one-year internship at an animal hospital in Boston. That year of sleepless nights and hard-fought victories solidified Dr. Harmon’s desire to help as many pets and people as she possibly could!

After her internship, Dr. Harmon returned to Cape Cod to be closer to her husband’s family and launch her veterinary career. She’s been serving the area’s pets and animal parents ever since. Medically, Dr. Harmon enjoys complicated medical cases and is also fond of complex wound repair, but her favorite part of the job is seeing her clients live better lives because of their happy, healthy pets.

Dr. Harmon’s interests away from the office include gardening, reading, listening to live music, walking her dogs, and spending time with family. She has three grown children and shares her life with three canine companions—Edie, a neurotic but sweet Boxer mix; a Saluki named Eisa; and a tiny Pekingese named QueeQueg—and a pair of adorable cats named Dude and Oscar. Dr. Harmon also keeps two horses on her property: Belle, a Rocky Mountain Gaited horse, and a Quarter horse named Desijo.
