February 20th is a special day for our furry patients: it’s Love Your Pet Day! We of course strongly believe that pets should feel loved every day. However, this is a great time to show your four-legged friend some extra TLC. Here, a Bourne, MA vet offers some tips on celebrating Love Your Pet Day
Toys and treats will definitely brighten up your pet’s day. Your four-legged pal may also appreciate a comfy new bed. Cats will also enjoy kitty furniture, a comfy window seat, or some catnip. As for Fido, maybe he could use a new leash or jacket, or even a doghouse.
Okay, so February may be a bit too cold to take Fido to a park or beach. However, you can treat your pooch with a trip to a pet-friendly café. Or, bring him through a drive through and give him a plain cheeseburger. (We don’t normally condone giving dogs fatty treats, but it is a special occasion.) As for kitties, well, our feline friends are definitely better off staying indoors. Consider making Fluffy a box castle to explore. This is a great project for kids!
Pets both look and feel better when their fur is soft and clean. If you have a cat, spend a few minutes brushing her. As for Fido, why not book him an appointment at the salon for a grooming session? Bonus: you get to enjoy cuddling with a clean pup later.
Have a pet-themed family night! Treat your furry companion with snacks, and then indulge them in a fun play session. Afterwards, pick out a cute pet-themed movie, and offer your dog or cat lots of cuddles while you watch.
Snap some great shots of your furry BFF. You can never have too many adorable pet pictures!
Unfortunately, many sweet pets don’t have forever homes, and want nothing more than for someone to adopt them and love them. Consider making a donation to a charity or shelter. While there are many great organizations to choose from, we are proud to work with some wonderful local ones. Heroes in Transition, a group that helps veterans; Four Paws Stronger, a dog rescue; and 4H are all excellent choices.
